Beckett is 4 months old!

Beckett is 4 months old today! Where has the time flown? I know I say that all the time, but really! It seems like he just arrived.

We started cereal this week. After the initial surprise, he really seemed to like it. We're having it at dinnertime this week and next week we'll add it to breakfast. Then comes the good stuff! Peas anyone? Haha!

We're also sleeping through the night consistently, which has been wonderful. Beckett is wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6 month clothes, mostly 6 months. However, he's so long that we'll be buying 9 month sleepers soon. He's crazy long!

Happy Thursday!

Marshmallow Pops

First cupcakes took over the world, and then cake pops. Now it's marshmallow pops! I found these online and decided they would be perfect to take to a 4th of July party we were attending.

All you need is meltable candy wafers, large marshmallows, lollipop sticks and sprinkles.

I wish I had taken step-by-step pictures for you, but that just didn't happen. All you do is melt the chocolate wafers, dip the marshmallows (on the sticks) in the chocolate, sprinkles them with sprinkles and set in a cup to dry. A large piece of styrofoam would work great, too, for putting the pops on to harden up.After they dried, I wrapped them each in small cellophane candy bags and tied them with some ribbon and Ta Da! They're done!
I'm already planning on making some for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day and many other events. I can't express how easy these were to make and yummy, too!

Bad, Bad Blogger

Yes, I've been a bad blogger. We've been super busy since July started and I haven't done a great job of taking pictures or updating here.

We had a great 4th of July with some dear friends. We've been hanging out in our downtown, going to the farmer's market and just enjoying the scenery.

Brady finally finished his lego pyramid that he built all by himself (I'm just a little bit proud!). Beckett is getting more and more of a personality every day.

Here's to a new week of blogging goodness and enjoying life! Happy Monday!

Blueberry Struesel Muffins

We got these amazing blueberries from the farmer's market on Saturday (have I mentioned they're amazing??), so last night I decided to whip up some homemade blueberry muffins. I found this recipe in my trusty Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook and away we went!

Ingredients
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup regular oats, uncooked
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
3/4 cup buttermilk (note: I just used 2% milk because that's what I had on hand)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Preparation
Combine brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and the butter and cut with a pastry cutter (or food processor if you have one) until mixture is crumbly. Stir in oats; set aside.

Combine 2 cups flour and next 5 ingredients in a large bowl; add blueberries, tossing gently.

Make a well in center of mixture.

Combine buttermilk, oil, and egg; add to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Spoon batter into greased muffin pans, filling two-thirds full, and sprinkle with oat mixture.

Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden. Remove from pans immediately; cool on wire racks.

These are so good and you'll never want muffins from a box again. Trust me!

Our Weekend

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week has started off well.

We had a great weekend. Friday night we had our neighbors over for dinner. They have two kids, Luke and Abby, who are Brady's age and they always have a good time together. We grilled out, then the kids got to hunt for fire flies. We had a gorgeous night!

Brady wasn't too sure about it and asked if he could wear his winter gloves!

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and went downtown for the farmer's market. Greenville has an amazing farmer's market that has become quite the hip spot. We got tomatoes, green beans and the most amazing blueberries I think I've ever had!

Beckett decided to sleep through most of it.

After we put everything in the cooler in the car, we headed over to the Children's Museum of the Upstate

The place was almost completely empty! I guess everyone was on vacation or laying by the pool. I was really shocked with it being a Saturday morning. Beckett loved watching Brady play. Before I know it, he'll be running around, too.

I don't have any pictures from Sunday, but we went to church and then James painted the trim in our living room and hallway. It needed some definite touching up!

And yes, I just realized that Brady is wearing the same outfit as he was from Father's Day. I promise he has more clothes! :)

Come back tomorrow because I'll show you what I made with those amazing blueberries!

Fashion Friday

Okay, this isn't fashion for me. :) This is from Gymboree and I think it would be a perfect First Day of School outfit for Brady in August.

Can you believe the 4th of July is a week from Monday? Where is the summer going? Here are some super cute ideas for your 4th of July cookout -

These cute holders are tin cans covered in scrapbook paper A Thoughtful Place

Marshmallow pops! I'm so making these for a cookout we'll be attending A Thoughtful Place

Mason jars filled with sand. Mason jars just say "summer" to me and they have so many uses! A Thoughtful Place

And let's not forget patriotic attire for the little ones! I love this jon jon from Jolly Rompers. Beckett would look precious in it!

And what summer is complete without the $5 flag tee from Old Navy? Brady already has his!
